The aromatherapy, a solution in solving the problems related to daily stress
Following the research of the last few years it has been proven that stress is developing into a problem which affects more and more people, becoming one of the main reasons for numerous diseases, along with the food, tobacco, alcohol and lack of rest (the latter also generating stress).
More accurate, the notion of stress is in its turn related to many aspects, and on e can talk about psychical stress but also about the organic one produced by : illness, unhealthy food, traumatisms etc. So, virtually any disturbance of health generates organic stress. Both types of stress are harmful and at the moment there are different means of controlling it, proving the fact that the most effective ones consist of: relaxation techniques (massage, aromatherapy, and spa), sports, switching to a healthy diet, sleep and psychical education, more accurate the positivism.
The aromatherapy used in eliminating stress.
The reliable part of aromatherapy is that it can be used in all routine situations, in all daily activities: at the office, in the kitchen, in the bathroom, at the mass age, at the sauna etc.
But you must choose carefully the aromas according to the activities involved, tonic aromas for work and relaxing ones for bathing, massage, sauna etc. The aromatherapy is also used to treat different illnesses, but also to induce different states or to improve others. The volatile oils or incense used in aromatherapy balance the emotional state and by inhibiting and respectively exciting the nervous system, have different effects on the entire organism.
Definition from the Britannica ENCYCLOPEDIA: aromatherapy
"Therapy which uses essential oils and water based colloids extracted from plants, in order to sustain health, physical, emotional and spiritual balance. Simple or combined extracts can be vaporized in the inhaled air or used in the massage oils or added to bath water. T
he inhaled molecules of these extracts stimulate the olfactory nerve, sending messages to the
brain’s limbic system (the memory, learning and emotion center) which is presumab
ly the one which induces physiological response reactions (for example, the eucalyptus has a de
congestant effect, and lavender produces relaxation). Classical medicine
questions the inde
pendent physiological effects, considering that positive results are rather due to conditioned reflexes which smells accentuate or generate. It has been
proved that the oils and solutions used have certain effects, but the results are not approved. Among the few possible risks are the allergic reactions.”
